About Me

Born in Shanghai, China, I immigrated to St. John's, New Brunswick, in 2008, then spent my high school years in Coquitlam, BC, before coming to Toronto for an undergrad at UofT. I am a global citizen, and I try to travel a lot. I am always interested in seeing and thinking about how people think, behave and communicate in their culture and society and reflect on those experiences when fuelling my research ideas.

I am a fan of history -- especially the early modern era of Europe, North America, and East Asia. I am also a dedicated supporter of Canadian Soccer (I prefer to call it football, like the rest of the world, but oh well). I am a federally licensed coach affiliated with Canada Soccer. I am a die-hard fan of Vissel Kobe from the J-league and German striker Lukas Podolski.

I also deeply admire anyone who studies philosophy, physics, and linguistics. They usually outsmart me.

Research Background

A wandering soul who lost faith in his pursuit of political science studies, I was dragged into psychology by Dr. Dan Dolderman  and Dr. Jason Plaks from UofT. My Bachelor and Master's work focused on attention and eye movement decisions affected by animacy and scene perception. I was supervised by Dr. Jay Pratt and Dr. Monica Castelhano, respectively.

I am now using eye-tracking techniques to study intergroup relations under the supervision of Dr. Kerry Kawakami.
